Blue skies

Whilst looking for a picture to share today I forgot I took one last week to put up.

Last Saturday I went for a quick walk at Westhay on the Somerset Levels and had to take a picture because the sky was so lovely and I'm a big fan of catkins that are starting to appear.

Not as sunny today and it is now a bit damp but we've had a lovely week.

In fact last week when it was nice as well we ended up nipping down to West Bay one evening after work (Broadchurch for non-local followers!!).  We had fish and chips in the sun and it was gorgeous.
We are so lucky to be able to do that here.

This was taken at nearly 6 o'clock at night - I was meant to be crafting but had to make the most of it!
Anyway, back to it and I'll rustle up a crafting photo for next time!

Quilling demos

Jill's Quills was very busy last weekend demonstrating quilling in the hobby tent at Yandles Spring Woodworking show.

This was the first show we had actually done sit down make and takes and it proved to be really popular - I'd of had a go at a couple of the other things too!

This is early on day one.  This lady came back for a session and was hooked.  I converted a couple of non-crafters which was great.

Lots of comments as always that people had never seen it done and once seen for real it's not as scary as people think!
The other side of my stand for day two!
A few of my cards, some of my afternoon tea items from last years Quilling AGM, the lovely 3D animals from Jane Jenkins Three Dimensional Quilling book, a chocolate card from Diane Boden's Miniature Quilling book and some fringed bunnies from Diane's crafts beautiful pattern which were also very popular.

The shop sold lots of paper and tools and most of the big kit boxes you can see on the table.

I also had some posters and flyers for the Quilling Guild AGM in Sherborne in September as it's local this year - 19th September if it isn't in your diary - I will be mentioning it a lot though!!

Sheep!

Despite having a to-do list as long as my arm (and then some) I've just had a weekend away.  I managed not to break in to a non-crafting sweat and quite enjoyed a light breather.

My husband was racing at the Olympic velodrome on Good Friday and then we had a couple of nights in London to go pottering.

Saturday we visited the Imperial War Museum for a while, some of it was crazy busy though so after refreshment we then pottered through London and visited a few places near Covent Garden - and found a few Shauns!!

You may or may not know that there are currently 50 Shaun the Sheeps in London, there are due to be a different 70 in Bristol later in the year.  I'm a bit of a fan and had downloaded the app so I ticked a few off on Saturday whilst passing.

Sunday was a lovely day and we decided to go strolling and tick off more sheep as we went, stopping when we fancied.  I can tell you it becomes a bit addictive.  There are some great designs and they all have fun names too.  Chelsea Pen-Shaun-er amused me too much at the time but I am easily amused.

These are a few pics from the weekend.  It was quite fun and if you have a small children as an excuse too I can highly recommend it.  I saw all sorts of places in London I hadn't been near before - but only tagged 31 out of 50 sheep.

Birthday Butterfly

This birthday card very much uses Rich Razzleberry from Stampin' Up! as the colour theme!!

The card base is a 5x7" and I've mounted the Something Lacy stamp (which is proving very popular) on some card to match.

The large butterfly is from the currently out of stock Butterfly Thinlits with a little one from the Butterfly Basics set in the middle.

Sentiment from Memorable Moments and finished with a matching Decorative Label punch and some organza ribbon.

Enjoy your Easter eggs!

Quilling Demos

Yes, I'm actually going to do some quilling!!

Click the link here to see all the demos - and that's just in the hobby shop, the wood show at the same time is also a great visit.

I'll be doing make and take sessions on the day that you can book but also there for questions and tips whether you are a beginner or have quilled before.

I made these 2 cards recently to take to the Quilling group at Woolavington.  They are heavily CASEd from Alexandra Ellis's lovely cards in our Guild magazine.
A similar card also won a prize in the Quilling Guild annual display competition last year for beautiful simplicity which is a reminder that you don't have to produce a huge picture or something crazy for it to be beautiful.

Apologies the picture quality isn't the greatest.

The colours on the first one are a bit snazzy as I was trying something out of my comfort zone.

I hope some of you can make it to Yandles.
Jill
