Food for Sundays with Santa

This was my card I made for last weeks Sundays with Santa on Facebook.

It's a gorgeous Molly Blooms stamp and I finally dusted off my copics for this one.
I used colours close to the ones on the stamp packet to save thinking too hard!!

A Woodware stamp was used for the wording, some layers die cut and punched including a piece of background paper from the stash which is a little sparkly!

I've punched the snowflakes from glitter card and added 'metals' on top - they are like the top of brads but fairly flat - and really scrummy.

Some punched corners and a bow and another Christmas card for the stash.  The subject last week was food, the current weeks subject is snowflakes if you fancy a go.

Choo-choo!

After nearly catching up I'm not quite up to date with blogs again and thought I had better update my own too as I have been busy this week.

This card was for my Godson.  As with everything I seem to have done recently I had a different idea of how it was going to look when I started but for various reasons this is what finally happened!:

Probably not a traditional card for a 5 year old either but Alex is a train fanatic so I had to use these lovely stamps from Molly Blooms.

I've coloured the images in copics, added some highlights with white pen and added fun flock for smoke.

Also coloured some peel off letters and number and added to some card candi which is layered on some punched circles.

A few layers of card, including one using Martha Stewart punch-around-the-page and some SU circle and scallop punches for the sentiment stamp from the stash.

This card is an 8x8" one too.  I did enter it in the Molly Blooms Facebook competition but as it wasn't as fancy as I'd planned and after seeing the competition I don't think it will get anywhere but I'm still really pleased with it.

Got another crafty day out tomorrow so will report back on that too.

Molly Blooms Workshop

For my final workshop of the week I visited Jobo Crafts in Weston-Super-Mare yesterday for a great workshop with Clare Rowlands who is the mastermind behind the Molly Blooms range of stamps.

Her new Winter Woodland stamps literally came in to the shop on Friday too - not sure if that was good or bad really!!

Anyway, we made 2 cards on the day.  This is the first one:

The image 'Berry Nice Molly' has been stamped, coloured and cut out.  Clare uses Copics to colour her images so it was great to use some of her colour combinations to achieve the effects like the pictures on the front of the stamp packets.

Molly is sitting on 'Pinecone Perch' which was also stamped, coloured and cut into a circle with a few bits of the image having a slight overhang on to the matt behind it.

All the card layers were distressed with Tim Holtz ink and you can see we then used some more frantage on the background picture and die cut tree to create a snow effect.

Finished with a stamped and distressed tag & some buttons etc - and that was just the morning!

For the afternoon card we used the image 'Hattie'.

Coloured in copics again and both cards have a spot of glossy accents here and there for effect.

Similar to the first card the layers were distressed and built up with ribbon, buttons and die cuts - and some great felt snowflakes for this one.

Another sentiment was made in to a tag and then more frantage snow - very much 'thing' of the moment and I love it.

A great day out thanks to the ladies from Jobo Crafts, fellow crafters and Clare who came down from Lancashire in the morning (not a wise decision in hindsight!).

A couple of weeks off from workshops now but a few more to come this year!  Best put all these new ideas to good use in the meantime.

Celebrate

Hooray - 5 completed box cards - not quite sure how I've managed that but I shall take some piccies tomorrow.

This card is for my Uncle's birthday - he does happen to be a bit of a 'plane' fan but I thought this Molly Blooms is rather nice as a man card in general.

I've stamped it, coloured in copics and punched out, distressing the edge to tone in with the layers of card.

Not got too snazzy due to lack of time.
The base card is 5" and I've also distressed the edges to make the white less stark, string wrapped around the yellow layer and some gems for a bit of bling.

The celebrate is a separate stamp but is designed to fit on the banner that is attached to the plane - I've coloured and attached with sticky fixers.

Workshop Project 2

The second project that I have finally completed from my Molly Blooms workshop is this one:

This is the project that made me think of the Crafty Bunch - my local group of crafty ladies that meet once a month - I thought this was something different that they might like, although I am obviously opening myself up for sorting that out by suggesting it!

I'm not sure what we should call it, it's a kind of card/gift bag all in one.

The main event is made from one sheet of double sided 12x12 paper - just folded, no sticking.

The next picture shows it from the side, it has a pocket on each side.

For this example we punched a scallop circle & standard circle for the top to place over the opening.  Some more hessian ribbon, a tag and button were also added.

The little 'seed packet' in the side was also simple to make with a few folds although some sticking was involved in that!

More distressing, punching, ribbons, gems, buttons and sticking followed like the windmill card.

And then we got to colour in another of the new range of Molly Blooms stamps which I have then cut out and mounted on all the layers.

I think it is a lovely idea and something a bit different again - I look forward to your feedback!

Molly Blooms Workshop

I was lucky enough to secure a spot on a Molly Blooms workshop with the creator & designer of the stamps Clare Rowlands on Saturday at Jobo Crafts in Weston Super Mare.

She uses copic pens to colour all her images and has quite a distinctive style to her cards.  We got to make 3 projects, this is the first one.

The windmill is from her new range of stamps.  You will see there is a lot of distressing, layering, punching, adding of ribbon & buttons - and that is before we even coloured anything.

I would never of got the same colour effect without some of the tips she gave us and I am really pleased with the finished article.

The pictures below are the outside and inside of the card.  The inside has another of Clare's new stamps which I have coloured and then cut out.

Molly Blooms Workshop

Finally I have finished the card I started in a workshop last week.

We had a couple of days in the Lake District and I always visit The Paper Warehouse near Kendal when we go as it is a lovely shop.  Last year I was lucky enough to visit on their Christmas demo day which was superb - whilst checking what was on this year it turned out I was in the area on a day when the lovely Clare Rowlands - creator & designer of Molly Blooms stamps was running a workshop.  Obviously I had to go!

Clare gave us this stamped image which combines 2 of her new Christmas designs - the skater & the lamppost.  Our pack also had a card with all the paper required to make this fab card.

What also appealed about the workshop was the fact that Clare uses Copic pens.  I have coloured the image, used glitter on some of the white areas for Christmas sparkle, added glossy accents on the boots and I loved her use of the little white dots on the girls face and scarf.

A selection of cutting, stamping and 'distressing' with London Fog Memento ink gives this fab card.  There is a picture of the inside too!

Clare has also just released a great magazine, worth it for the stamps alone but it also comes with papers, buttons, ribbons and a great stamp set - click 'here' for the link to her blog page about it (& all for £7.99).

I met some lovely ladies too and do visit the shop if you are lucky enough to be in the area.

Molly Blooms

And today - a lovely Molly Blooms stamped image.

I coloured the image with copics and stamped a second sheep so that I could '3D' him. Added some white flower soft, a quilled star and mounted.

Greeting is from Hobby Art, punched out with SU label punch, mounted on gold and placed on a strip of matching card punched with the SU dotty ribbon border.

They have a lot to answer for SU!!

Might have to miss a post tomorrow as off for a cultured evening out, I'll see what I can rustle up for later in the week.
