Back again for colouring in!

Apologies for the disappearance again - I thought I would go 'mobile' for a few days but it turns out Apple isn't so keen on the blogger app any more and I struggled to even put a note up saying it wasn't going well!

I still have lots of quilling pics to share but will start from a non-quilling workshop I did last week.

I was in the Lake District for a few days and managed to catch a workshop at the Paper Warehouse in Kendal with the lovely Clare Rowlands.

We did these 2 projects:

I wouldn't normally go for these colours but they are on a Christmas paper pad and something a bit different.  My Copic bag got to go on holiday too so I enjoyed a bit of colouring in.

These 2 pics (sorry for the reflection) are either side of the bauble.

We got to use a bit of shrink plastic too and I love the pom pom idea for snow.

Thanks to Clare again and the lovely staff at the Paper Warehouse - workshops include a little buffet lunch too so it's a super few hours.

Poppies

At Yandles craft fair a couple of weeks ago I had a play with some new Sheena Douglass stamps.

This new poppy stamp proved very popular:

This was a quick card just to demonstrate something different that could be done quickly.

I've stamped the image in memento ink twice, the second image I have punched out a circle containing most of a flower head and coloured it with copics.  This is then layered on a slightly larger circle to 'spotlight' it.

Simple but effective - you can't beat it!

Drunk penguins

Another late night picture I'm afraid but this is a card I made for a leaver at work to be signed by everyone in the department, it is 8x8".

The inspiration being she rather likes a drink and is a big penguin fan!!

The penguins are made using the Stampin' Up! owl punch - they are sooo cute.
The drinks are from a now retired SU set which is quite handy - I've used it again today on another card.

The drinks were coloured with copics and some fluffy stuff added for the beer head and some glossy accents for the fruit on the drinks.

Animal magic

I'll continue posting all the goodies I made at my weekend away on Jillstampsup and try and catch up with everything else on here!

This was a Mothers Day card I got asked for.  The brief being it was from several members of the family and between them they had 2 cats and 3 dogs - this is what I ended up with:

I've used several Penny Black stamps from my stash and coloured them with copics.
The dog on the right is cut out and 3D'd which doesn't show up well in the picture.

It was rather different but I was told yesterday it made the Mum in question cry (in a good way!) so it's nice to know it was appreciated.

Spotty Santa

Just to confirm my madness I notice all I've managed to post is Christmas cards recently!!

I have been busy making but haven't been able to share everything on here.
So - to last weeks Sundays with Santa entry which was for polka dots.

I have used another of my 'huge' Woodware stamps.  I have paper pieced the letters with some suitable paper from the stash - going over them with copics where the letters overlap.

The hat was cut out separately and coloured with copics and finished with fun flock and a bobble!

The other sentiment is also in the stamp set.

This week is 'never seen ink' if you fancy joining in.

Food for Sundays with Santa

This was my card I made for last weeks Sundays with Santa on Facebook.

It's a gorgeous Molly Blooms stamp and I finally dusted off my copics for this one.
I used colours close to the ones on the stamp packet to save thinking too hard!!

A Woodware stamp was used for the wording, some layers die cut and punched including a piece of background paper from the stash which is a little sparkly!

I've punched the snowflakes from glitter card and added 'metals' on top - they are like the top of brads but fairly flat - and really scrummy.

Some punched corners and a bow and another Christmas card for the stash.  The subject last week was food, the current weeks subject is snowflakes if you fancy a go.

Love me, Love my DOG

A quick fly past between working and bike races with a card!

This is using another fab Woodware stamp called 'Huge Dog'!!

I've used the extra little stamps in the set to add the paw prints, woofs and little dog head.

Main words coloured in copics and all mounted on a 5x7" kraft card.

Off to Newport Velodrome for the rest for the rest of the weekend so sorry again for the slow down in posts.

More colouring in!

Another stamp I came across from my local establishment was this cute panda, it was less than £3.50 and came with 3 sentiments and an additional little butterfly stamp - bargain.

It is an unmounted set from Crafter's Companion called 'Bamboo'.

I've used Copics C5, 7 & 9 for the 'black' and could of coloured these all day too.

The flower is also ideal for a spot of colouring and because I was quilling too I've added a 3mm fringed flower to the middle which fitted perfectly.

I've added some quilled solid coils in the corners  to tie in with the flower centre and finish the card.

The pic is rather focused on the quilled flower, sorry about that - still struggling a tad with my scanner!

Colouring in!

A quick card from my demos at the weekend.  After my prep went up in smoke somewhat plan b consisted of quilling and colouring some other items!

This is the Woodware stamp 'Modern Spray' that was available in the shop and this is one of the images I coloured with copics.  I did find myself getting rather lost in colouring a few times over the two days - it is so relaxing!

Fairly straight forward colouring and layered on some lovely pearl orange card also from the shop.

Merry Christmas

Or Merry Christ-moose to be more precise!!

Regular viewers may recall the electrician moose of a few weeks ago - this is the stamp in its full Christmas form!!

It's a Woodware stamp and I think it's fab.

I've coloured his jumper with copics and the scarf I've stamped a second time, cut out and stuck on the image for a bit of dimension.

Shoes coloured in copics and covered with glossy accents.

Nose is a red card candi.

I've then added a couple of goggly eyes (he looks  a little stary in this picture!) and his fur, antlers and jumper trim are different colours of fun flock.

A bit of layering with matching card and some snowflake paper and a sentiment from the stamp set too.

Bus trip

Thanks for the OCD comments about my heart punching!  In my defence (and although I do occasionally have these tendencies) after punching out 1,080 hearts in 8 different designs I didn't want to mix them up so put them in my pots for safe keeping - this project is coming along quite well this week.

So, at work this week I was asked 'could I make a birthday card for man'.  I said yes with a bit of a question (given recent requests).  'He's 60, drives a bus and is a Bristol City fan'.  I kid you not, the craziness never ends.

Soooo, my first thought went to the Penny Black London bus which I don't own but a friend kindly let me stamp the image a while ago - amazingly in the chaos I found it and the card took shape:

I've coloured the image in copics - I did research on what colour the footy team are thinking I could colour the bus to match and handily enough they are red and white so that fitted in rather well.

The age and reference to the club are on the front of the bus.

Sentiment printed out to match the 'Bristol City' font and all layered to tie in - mounted on some great football card I bought at a local establishment recently.

Good job I bought it see Val?!

Back to the hearts before the next crazy request rolls in!

Christmoose gets a job!

Another day, another random request!
I was asked if I could produce a card with an electrician moose on it this week.  After a bit of eye rolling and asking why no-one could just ask for a standard golf or car card I came up with the following:

I 'utilised' my Woodware stamp Christmoose (who sports a xmas pud on his jumper).

I've stamped him on white card and copic coloured in everything except the jumper and scarf which I paper pieced.
The shoes have some glossy accents on them, his nose a bit of card candi and I added some fun flock on his antlers.

To make him 'electrical' I've added a piece of wire for him to hold and tweaked his arm position to suit.

Some layers added in matching colours, the background being a passing piece of embossed blue paper.

SU sentiment to finish off!
I am pleased to report my crazy friend and the recipient loved it.

Choo-choo!

After nearly catching up I'm not quite up to date with blogs again and thought I had better update my own too as I have been busy this week.

This card was for my Godson.  As with everything I seem to have done recently I had a different idea of how it was going to look when I started but for various reasons this is what finally happened!:

Probably not a traditional card for a 5 year old either but Alex is a train fanatic so I had to use these lovely stamps from Molly Blooms.

I've coloured the images in copics, added some highlights with white pen and added fun flock for smoke.

Also coloured some peel off letters and number and added to some card candi which is layered on some punched circles.

A few layers of card, including one using Martha Stewart punch-around-the-page and some SU circle and scallop punches for the sentiment stamp from the stash.

This card is an 8x8" one too.  I did enter it in the Molly Blooms Facebook competition but as it wasn't as fancy as I'd planned and after seeing the competition I don't think it will get anywhere but I'm still really pleased with it.

Got another crafty day out tomorrow so will report back on that too.

Molly Blooms Workshop

For my final workshop of the week I visited Jobo Crafts in Weston-Super-Mare yesterday for a great workshop with Clare Rowlands who is the mastermind behind the Molly Blooms range of stamps.

Her new Winter Woodland stamps literally came in to the shop on Friday too - not sure if that was good or bad really!!

Anyway, we made 2 cards on the day.  This is the first one:

The image 'Berry Nice Molly' has been stamped, coloured and cut out.  Clare uses Copics to colour her images so it was great to use some of her colour combinations to achieve the effects like the pictures on the front of the stamp packets.

Molly is sitting on 'Pinecone Perch' which was also stamped, coloured and cut into a circle with a few bits of the image having a slight overhang on to the matt behind it.

All the card layers were distressed with Tim Holtz ink and you can see we then used some more frantage on the background picture and die cut tree to create a snow effect.

Finished with a stamped and distressed tag & some buttons etc - and that was just the morning!

For the afternoon card we used the image 'Hattie'.

Coloured in copics again and both cards have a spot of glossy accents here and there for effect.

Similar to the first card the layers were distressed and built up with ribbon, buttons and die cuts - and some great felt snowflakes for this one.

Another sentiment was made in to a tag and then more frantage snow - very much 'thing' of the moment and I love it.

A great day out thanks to the ladies from Jobo Crafts, fellow crafters and Clare who came down from Lancashire in the morning (not a wise decision in hindsight!).

A couple of weeks off from workshops now but a few more to come this year!  Best put all these new ideas to good use in the meantime.

Huge Birthday!

We had a Crafty Bunch meeting tonight but I forgot to take a pic of my sample cards in the light today so will have to wait a couple of days before posting those!

Instead, a quick post of another card made this week.

Using another of the Woodware huge words I have just stamped this 'Happy Birthday' and coloured with an array of copics - outlining them in a funky orange too.

Base card is covered in paper from the stash with the sentiment layered on black card on top.

A few little 6's added for the recipient!

A football send off

A bright card but for a very sad occasion today unfortunately.

If you are local you will have read about a teenager who tragically was killed in a car accident recently. His Dad works in my department at work so we are having a collection for the family's chosen charity and all signing a piece of paper which was to be added to a card.  Of course, I volunteered to make one.

I did a bit of research as I knew he was very much in to football which was the chosen theme as people were encouraged to wear football shirts for the funeral.

No surprises that it got a bit complicated as 3 football teams were suggested.

Anyway, this is the finished card.  The background has the football club logos in faint print, some paper strips from an Anna Marie pack in matching colours also added.

The footballers are from a Papermania stamp set, the middle one is cut out separately and added with 3D pads.  All of them are coloured with Copics.

Sentiment from Stampin' Up and punched out with SU punches.

All very sad but I am pleased with the finished result.

Christmas is coming!!

Every year I plan to start my Christmas cards earlier but am lucky that I am kept busy until it gets almost too late!

I haven't entirely caught up but allowed myself a small play this weekend as I've got a few stamps I have been itching to play with for ages.

Following on from yesterdays post this is another stamp from Woodware called 'Huge Santa'.
I have paper pieced all the letters, colouring with copics where they overlap (a finishing touch stolen from Francoise Read).

I have also stamped and cut out the hat, coloured with copics, added fun flock to the edge and finished with a pom pom.

I haven't made this image in to a card yet but have posted this while I mull it over!

Another tempting one for Val over at Aquarius blog who I might have encouraged to start a Woodware stash this weekend!

At the seaside

And back to crafting!

This is a birthday card for my friend Jo.

The card is a lovely speckled cream which I think is from my paper mill stash.

The background images are stamped in memento london fog ink using a lovely set from inkylicious.  I have stamped, cut out and added 3D foam to the shells for some extra dimension.

The beach scene is a Michael Powell stamp from DOCrafts.  I've coloured this using pan pastels for the sky, sea and sand which I haven't really used before (funnily enough the idea for this card wasn't how it panned out at all!).  I've also used copics for the beach huts.

Many thanks to Tracy who very kindly let me borrow her Stampin' up sentiment from the label love set as I 'tidied' mine at the weekend and it is currently residing in a safe place!!  I've punched it out using the matching punch (which I do have to hand) and punched another one to layer behind for contrast and to match the layering on the main image.

Hedgehogs

Well, I had a plan to get on top of some quilling yesterday and as I was on the way out to work I suddenly saw some hedgehog pictures I was meant to have sorted!!

At the last Crafty Bunch I sat next to Michelle who had borrowed a lovely collection of Penny Black wooden stamps from Anne over at Stamps and Paper.  Michelle has a stall tomorrow at Yeovil Junction where she is raising money for Prickles Hedgehog Rescue at Cheddar.

I stamped out some of the images as I love my hedgies and said I would make her some cards for her stall.

I coloured a load of images with copics a couple of weeks ago in between everything else and for some unknown reason completely forgot about adding them to cards - lucky I did remember yesterday as they were needed for today!!

Anyway, how I had coloured my images and what came to hand first saw the way to the following:

I really enjoyed doing them and must make time to do some more!

I've just popped them round to Michelle where she was busy with Beryl colouring, cutting and finishing items off.
