Well, I have just tried to add another post and for some reason I am having issues with my pictures - so many apologies for those keeping tabs on me, I will try again tomorrow.

Workshop Pt2

This is the second card from my workshop yesterday.

This features 'ring coils' which are made by winding a strip of paper round something. In this case we used bits of dowel, but any passing pens, pencils, tools or pots can be utilised if they are the size you need!

The rings made for the 2 larger flowers were shaped into teardrops and marquises like an ordinary quilled coil.

The paper was lovely for this project too. We were given some two-tone which, as it says on the tin, is a light shade one side and a darker shade on the opposite, really good for this technique.

This is also a technique I haven't really used before although there was some lovely work at the AGM last year so I must try and use it more.

Workshop

Having a quick break between work and language learning I have had a bit of a 'craftathon' over the last 4 days and now have some things to blog.

Bit of a shame I have been inside too much in the lovely weather but I had a day out at the Stitch & Craft show at the Bath & West for a few treats and bargains, 2 days demo-ing Quilling and a Quilling workshop today.

Today the Herring family of Elderberry Crafts visited our twice yearly quilling day at Woolavington. We (nearly) made 2 cards. This card was designed to showcase 'huskings' which are shapes made by wrapping paper around pins in a set design. It is a technique I have never used much so was good to produce such a lovely card.

The paper colours are lovely and from the range that Elderberry sell, the paper edging on the card corners is 'jeweltone' paper which has a sheen to it - one of those that seems too good to use sometimes!

I plan to finish off the other card tomorrow and also take some pics of the items I made for the demos I have just done so a bumper blog week for everyone that has complained about my absence!

Wedding Pt2

For some reason I couldn't load pics to my blog yesterday so today is a jumbo wedding special! The first picture is of the lovely tables at Ston Easton with my table numbers on which was really nice to see.

The weather turned out lovely in the end for the big day after a very grim start! The 2 cards are one from me and one from some work colleagues I made. The butterflies obviously carry the invitation theme through and are done in the same ivory and sparkly blue card. The pic doesn't do it great justice but there are 2 layers of each butterfly, one in each colour.

The other card is a favourite special one with lots of tags featuring the couples names, date and venue, still all in matching colours.

In a final butterfly hoorah I also made up these couple of presents. The frame contains an ivory printed card the same size as the invitations but just saying 'celebrating the marriage of ...' with all the relevant details as a momento.

The box is a papermania one I have covered (in more of the blue and ivory) and decorated with even more butterflies to use as a keepsake for all the comment cards that I made recently.

I might now have a break from butterfly related cards but am really pleased with how it all turned out and a good day was had by all!

Wedding

Further to the Wedding invitations I posted here a while ago these are some table numbers and comment cards for the Wedding tomorrow.

I was asked to make the individual cards to go on the tables for everyone to leave their thoughts and wishes on for the happy couple.

The table numbers are the same size as the invitations.

The numbers were cut using some plastic stencils which I drew round and cut out (surprisingly successfully!).

The numbers are mounted using little sticky fixers and the card is finished with 2 of the punched butterflies that were on the invites with some little gems stuck in the middle.

The venue (Ston Easton Park) has some holders for these so I hope they look good when I get there tomorrow!

Extravaganza Part 2!

The afternoon of last weeks SU day with Stevie produced these 2 projects!

The book base is an SU 5x5 journal which is lovely quality. As part of our day we got a full pack of 6x6 Elegant Soiree papers too. They are lovely quality papers and fab designs, but double sided! It seems such a shame to stick one design down!

The inside and outside of the book are covered using the papers and matching cardstock. The afternoon stamp set was Just Believe (one of which seems to have turned up in the house - would you believe it?).

I never thought I would be tempted with the spiral border punch but now feel the need to make everyone notebooks for presents.

Some co-ordinating ribbons have been tied round the spirals and a little pen loop (apologies I didn't quite get round to putting paper in the pen to match too).

Then as my 3-course lunch was settling and I was getting tired I managed to rustle up a magnetic post-it holder.

This was based on a 6x6 card square, covered with matching cardstock then more of the lovely papers.

A stamped border in the middle was mounted on matching card which was edged using the scallop trim punch.

A little boho blossom punched in the corner with a designer filigree brad added to finish - not forgetting pen loop, magnetic strips on the back and holes to thread a bow through!

Quite a haul for a day I think with lots of ideas and some goodies to play with.

SU Extravaganza

I have been told off for my poor posting (I think I did forecast a downturn in blogging though!).

I went on a Stampin' Up Extravaganza Day with Stevie last Sunday which I really enjoyed.

This is a picture of the morning project! It uses the Growing Green stamp set.

The box took a little bit of thinking about but looks great. The cards and envelopes are decorated with the different stamps from the set, some just plainly stamped, some stamped and cut out for extra dimension. The greetings were punched out with the modern label punch (which is rather nice!).

This was a very satisfying project and I hope to make some more for presents this year.

After a lovely 3-course lunch made by Stevie's Mum we made a couple more items which I will rustle up for another post!
